Devils Press: pace by band

A burpee holding dumbbells that ends overhead: the most expensive counted rep in the config, and the anchor of the grind class. Nothing about it cycles; each rep is assembled from a floor trip, a swing and an overhead finish. Pacing advice is simple and unwelcome: keep moving, never sprint.

The numbers

Devils Press is classed grind (the rep is an event - multiple positions, heavy load, or a wall), which puts a 2.2x multiplier on the base rep rate. That works out to:

BandSeconds per repReps per minute10 reps20 reps30 reps50 reps
Beginner6.6091:062:123:185:30
Advanced5.28110:521:452:384:24
Elite4.40130:441:282:123:40

A band is a pace, not a verdict: finishing at the Advanced line means you moved at that rate on that day. The rates and the class come from the same published config the Rep The Set app computes with, fetched live, so this page and the app cannot disagree.
