Introduction

Rep The Set ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our iOS mobile application (the "App" or "Service").

By using our Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use our Service.

Who We Are

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Password (stored securely using encryption)
  • Display name (optional)
  • Authentication information from third-party providers (Google, Apple) when you use social sign-in

Workout Data

We collect and store:

  • Custom workouts you create (exercises, stations, blocks, rounds, timing configurations)
  • Workout history and completion records
  • Performance statistics and progress tracking data

Heart-Rate Data

Only if you pair a Bluetooth heart-rate monitor (a chest strap or a watch broadcasting heart rate), the App records during your workouts:

  • Your heart rate, once per second
  • Your average and maximum heart rate, and the time spent in each heart-rate zone
  • The maximum heart rate used to calculate your zones
  • Session insights we calculate from these, such as how your heart rate responded at each station

We treat heart-rate data as health data, a special category of personal data under data protection law (GDPR Art. 9). We use it only to show your heart rate during workouts and to give you insights about your own training. We never sell it, never use it for advertising or marketing, and never share it with anyone unless you tell us to (see "AI Assistants You Choose" below). If you don't pair a monitor, no heart-rate data is collected. To stop, unpair your monitor in the App. To delete what has been recorded, delete the workout from your history or delete your account.

Preferences and Settings

We store your app preferences including:

  • Audio and voice announcement settings (sound enabled, voice enabled, countdown enabled)
  • Default workout configurations (work time, rest times, workout mode)
  • Language preferences for voice announcements
  • Other app configuration settings

Device Information

The App uses the following device features:

  • Audio Playback: The App plays audio cues and voice announcements during workouts. This does not require microphone access and does not record any audio.
  • Background Audio: The App can play audio in the background during workouts. This allows you to continue hearing workout cues even when the app is in the background.
  • Live Activities: The App uses iOS Live Activities to display workout progress on your Lock Screen. This feature does not collect additional personal information.

Information We Do NOT Collect

The App does not request or collect:

  • Location data
  • Health or fitness data from HealthKit
  • Camera or photo library access
  • Microphone recordings
  • Contact information from your device
  • Biometric data

Messages You Send Us

If you write to us, through the contact form on our website or directly to support@reptheset.app or privacy@reptheset.app, your message reaches our support mailbox as an email. It is not copied into any database or ticketing system. We keep the correspondence in that mailbox for as long as we need it to deal with what you wrote about, and no longer.

We use it to answer you and for nothing else. It is not used for advertising, is never sold, and is not added to any mailing list. You can ask us to delete correspondence at any time by writing to privacy@reptheset.app.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve our App
  • Authenticate your identity and manage your account
  • Store and sync your workouts, history, and preferences across your iOS devices
  • Enable Live Activities to display workout progress on your Lock Screen
  • Provide audio cues and voice announcements during workouts
  • Show your live heart rate, record heart-rate zones, and calculate session insights (only if you pair a heart-rate monitor)
  • Enable workout sharing functionality (when you choose to share workouts)
  • Respond to your inquiries and provide customer support
  • Send you important updates about the App (account-related notifications)
  • Detect, prevent, and address technical issues and security threats
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure:

  • AWS Cognito: User authentication data, including email addresses and encrypted passwords
  • Amazon DynamoDB: Workout data, history, preferences, and user profile information
  • AWS API Gateway: Secure API endpoints for app functionality
  • Local Device Storage: Some app preferences and settings may be stored locally on your iOS device using standard iOS storage mechanisms

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
  • Encryption of sensitive data at rest
  • Secure authentication using industry-standard protocols
  • Regular security assessments and updates
  • Access controls and authentication requirements for all data access

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Third-Party Services

Our App integrates with the following third-party services:

Authentication Providers

The App offers sign-in through Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple. When you use these services, they may collect information as described in their respective privacy policies. We only receive the information necessary to authenticate your account (email address and user identifier). We do not have access to your Google or Apple account credentials.

Apple Services

The App uses Apple's Sign in with Apple for authentication. When you use this feature, Apple may collect information as described in Apple's Privacy Policy. We only receive the information necessary to authenticate your account (email address and user identifier). The App also uses iOS Live Activities, which is a system feature that does not transmit data to third parties.

Workout Sharing

When you choose to share a workout, the App creates a short URL that allows others to import your workout configuration. This sharing is optional and only occurs when you explicitly choose to share a workout. The shared data includes only the workout configuration (exercises, timing, structure) and does not include any personal information or workout history.

AI Assistants You Choose

Rep The Set never sends your data to an AI service on its own. Your data reaches one only when you choose to send it:

  • Share with your AI (Pro): you can export a workout session as a JSON file containing its splits, pacing and heart-rate data, and send it to any AI assistant you prefer, for example ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini. Rep The Set doesn't send this file anywhere: you choose where it goes, and that company's terms apply once you've shared it.

Once your data is with an AI assistant, that company's own terms and privacy policy apply to it, not this one: Anthropic, OpenAI, Google (Gemini). For users in the EU, these services are provided by EU companies (Anthropic Ireland, OpenAI Ireland, Google Ireland), which may process data outside the EU, including in the United States.

Cloud Infrastructure

We use Amazon Web Services (AWS) to host and operate our App backend services. AWS's privacy practices are governed by their privacy policy. Your data is stored in AWS data centers and is subject to AWS's security and privacy standards.

Advertising

The App shows a small number of ad cards to users on the free tier. These are served by us directly from a file we publish. We do not use an advertising network, we do not use the device advertising identifier (IDFA), and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

Which ad you see is decided by where it appears in the App, a rotation weight, and the dates the ad is scheduled to run. No information about you is used to choose it, so every user on a given screen is eligible to see the same ads. Ads are not personalised.

We do not share your personal information with advertisers. Advertisers do not receive your identity, your workout history, or any other data from us. When an ad is shown or tapped, that is recorded only on your device and is not transmitted to us.

Tapping an ad opens the advertiser's own website in your browser. What they collect there is governed by their privacy policy, not this one. Subscribers to Rep The Set Pro see no ads at all.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We may share information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf (e.g., AWS for hosting and data storage)
  • Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction
  • With Your Consent: We may share information with your explicit consent or at your direction (e.g., when you choose to share a workout via the App's sharing feature; see "AI Assistants You Choose")

Your Rights and Choices

You have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: You can access and review your personal information through the app settings, or by writing to privacy@reptheset.app (for example, for the history of your consent choices)
  • Correction: You can update your account information and preferences at any time
  • Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data directly through the app by navigating to the Profile section and selecting "Delete Account." This action will permanently delete your account, all workout data, history, preferences, and any other personal information associated with your account. You can also request account deletion by contacting us at privacy@reptheset.app. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
  • Data Portability: You can export your workout data in a standard format
  • Opt-Out: You can opt out of non-essential communications by adjusting your notification preferences
  • Withdraw Consent: Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time, without affecting what was done before. Unpair your heart-rate monitor to stop heart-rate recording.
  • Complain: You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the country where you live or work.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the App. If you delete your account through the App or by contacting us, we will delete or anonymize your personal information, except where we are required to retain it for legal, regulatory, or legitimate business purposes.

When you delete your account, all associated workout data, history, and preferences will be permanently deleted from our servers. This action cannot be undone.

Workout history and statistics may be retained in anonymized form for analytical purposes to improve our App, but this data will not be associated with your personal information.

Children's Privacy and Age Rating

Our Service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information.

The App is used through an account rather than as a guest, so this minimum applies to everyone who uses it. We have set the App Store age rating to 13+ ourselves rather than accept the lower rating the rating questionnaire calculated from the App's content, so that the rating on the listing matches the minimum age stated here. Apple shows each country the equivalent rating for that country.

The App has no parental controls or age-verification features of its own, and is rated "None" for both in the App Store. Purchases, notifications and time spent in the App are controlled through iOS Screen Time. What the App does and does not contain is set out in full on our age suitability page.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the minimum age may be higher in your jurisdiction. In such cases, we will comply with applicable local laws.

International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country. By using our Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States and other countries where AWS operates data centers.

If you send your data to an AI assistant (see "AI Assistants You Choose"), it goes to that company, which may process it in the United States.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.

Material changes to this Privacy Policy will be communicated through the App (via in-app notification or update prompt) or via email to the address associated with your account. Continued use of the App after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
